There was no vat on my pint and when vat was introduced food wasn’t included and beer was claimed to be a food so should be exempt, didn’t work😡 wine was vat exempt too and cider was classed as a wine😁

I was saving up for one I was only on £9 a week What - done some badly paid jobs but never that little - no idea how you managed to run a bike on that I was an apprentice plater welder at British Steel £9 a week was my first year pay, in my second year it went up to £ 13 a week. I wish I could have stuck it out but I transferred onto the production in Templeboro bar mill and my wages shot up to £88 a week overnight, I felt like a millionaire . This was in 1972/3/4 petrol was 37p a gallon, beer was 20p a pint and we moaned like buggery when it went up to 21p

I copied you Dave, started work on an LD150. I bought it for £15 just before I left school, in preparation. I saved the money from my Saturday job - well Friday night & Saturday morning for 30 bob a week- delivering booze for the local offy on their ancient push bike with stirrup brakes & a giant rack at the front with a wicker basket to carry the bottles. Once I started my apprenticeship on £3 a week, I saved up enough to buy a Tiger Cub for £30. Unfortunatley, no photos of my early bikes, I only have the one of my mate Phil's outfit in my avatar. £80 was a fortune back in the early 70s Tel, I remember changing jobs in '74 & being chuffed 'cos I went from £35 to £40 a week

Nice......250 Star Fire. Did those have fibreglass fuel tanks? Pre 1970 models had the smaller fibreglass tank and side panels a better looking bike that started life as the Barracuda, couldn’t get the earlier model so had to settle for the later model

You haven't changed a bit Pete....what's your secret? I reckon it's avoiding household jobs for nigh on 30 years.....you have a nice easy going missus.
Re:BSA.....Yep, can certainly see that tail light just visible is a 68-on Brit.
