Time to resurrect the fs1e in my garage. I was going to concentrate on the CB400T, but since changing the chain and sprockets and renovating the brakes, it is fine and totally ridable! I bought it back in 2004, did a reasonable renovation and gave it to my daughter to ride (she was 16 at the time). She rode it and left it in a less than perfect state, she stopped riding it when it nipped up on the 2006 FS1e Run to Brighton and it has sat in the garage since. I started to strip it down but never got very far. I think it is time to give it a new lease of life! This was it when I goy it, it looks OK, but it was in fact a mess, when I took the mudguards off they literally crumbled! This was it after I renovated it, and before my daughter used and abused it. I am going to try and get it right this time around!

No idea how these nasty little things command so much money. Ah......I remember now - Nostalgia. It does some strange things to us.

Well remember the joint Fizzy /Superdream runs back in the early days those runs were a proper laugh ,watching Fizzys go up hills two up and the pillion passenger jumping off and pushing till they got to the top then jumping back on .Loz would like this thread I think he's still got one or two Fizzys about the place

One I recall is mocked up to look like a Kenny Roberts Fizzie DX but is actually a 100cc ? That one must be fun.

I guess nostalgia is the thing.
When I first renovated it, I went out for a first ride and at the first junction I honestly thought that the brakes had failed (they had not, they are just awful), the headlight was dreadful (we put a cats eye bicycle light on it - not strictly legal I suspect, but you could see much better!). But it was materially quicker than all her friends scooters (even those that had been breathed on). We did the fizzy run twice (I did the DVD that was sold by the organisers, professional it was not!), we attempted a third one, but that is when it nipped up - been in the garage ever since.
As I said on another thread, most of the classics that pull big money, are actually not very good if looked at objectively against even the cheapest modern machinery, but I guess we are all suckers for the past.
And if I don't like it when its done I can always sell it - helps that I only paid £800 for it!

I tried so hard to buy a fizzie in the spring of 1990 (concentrate on gcse's or try and buy a bike? no contest) but just couldnt find one, there were the newer restricted ones available but I wanted (like everyone else) an older unrestricted version. actually ended up with a honda mt5 that I gave £195 for, then ran it for the year and traded in against an rg125, it wasnt a bad deal as they gave me £200 on the trade in. but I sadly never owned a fizzie, ah well maybe one day

Joking aside, it sounds like we are a similar age and I too was tempted by a Fizzie in 1990, a P reg one in bronze parked outside the local bike breakers in Reading. The breaker wanted about £150 for it. The old man stopped me though.....not sure why. We had a bit of a falling out over it (it was before I was earning a wage at 15/16).
