passed this folly thing loads of times but never stopped for a look before bit hazy today so heysham power station and morecambe bay behind it is about all you can make out then after getting in the wrong lane in lancaster (again) eventually made it up to windermere tried going up ambleside but the traffic was just insane so gave it up as a bad job

Great pictures Buster. Trough of Bowland is especially interesting for us as it's somewhere we thought we might go at short notice if we get a nice bit of weather & we fancy a little bike trip before winter sets in Easy to hop on the boat to Heysham & there's cheap accommodation nearby in Garstang

Trough of Bowland is especially interesting for us as it's somewhere we thought we might go at short notice if we get a nice bit of weather & we fancy a little bike trip before winter sets in Easy to hop on the boat to Heysham & there's cheap accommodation nearby in Garstang theres a rather nice loop actually, if you come out of heysham/lancaster on the ingleton road then take a right turn to wennington and eventually bentham (great road and nice countryside) then take the right in bentham, that takes you over the moors to slaidburn (good cafe, usually some bikes there) then take the other road out of slaidburn and your back through the trough of bowland. cracking scenery pretty much all the way

Thanks Buster, duly noted for future reference! We were going to go through a bit of it on our way back from the Dales on the Sunday, but it was pissing down again, so we stuck to the A59 for most of it
