Went to the Classic bike and car show at the NEC last weekend - what a crock - there were multiple car halls (and they were very good), but the bike piece consisted of the corner of one hall - with not much there (the VJMC tried hard at there was not much else). the car piece was great - but I went for the bikes - also the NEC sucks for parking and signposting. A few weeks ago I went to Ardingly on the Dream, (with my brother on his 750F2 - which turned into a 375 twin thanks to a coil issue). There were massive queues to get in (for cars that is, bikes were not an issue), it was well attended, but there was very little there - some nice race bikes, a few good bikes and some utter rubbish bikes (cant imagine why they would be on display to be honest, throwing a pot of silver paint at an engine does not really make it look good!).
So - to my point - the shows are not great for classic bikes (except maybe Stafford), they are expensive (the on the day price at the NEC was £35!), the bikes on display are often poor (contrast that with the cars which were superb). There is HUGE interest in the classic bike market - so was wondering why there was so little out there....or perhaps I am just looking in the wromg place.
On the upside the car piece inspired me so much that I am now on the hunt for a good late 1930's MG TA!
