A question to the knowledgeable.
Would the above action (in the title) bring the red pressure light on or break the circuit meaning it stays off ?
Non SD this question but hoping it could be generic.

Think I could have gone a long way to answering my own question....
Standard oil pressure light will illuminate for a few seconds before going out as 'health check'......indicating all is okay. If it stays on then of course there is a problem I.E the sensor or an engine problem.
If i does not illuminate at all then it is electrical (loom / switch / fuse) .....but of course someone could be trying to hide a deeper problem by sabotaging one of these items.

it should be fairly easy to check the sensor, put a multimeter on the 20v scale and connect black to earth and red to the connector coming off the oil pressure sensor. when you turn the ignition on you should get a reading (light on) then when you start (or the safer way, just spin the engine over) the reading should drop back to zero (light off). after this test you probably have a better idea where to look for any problem and youll know wether or not you have oil pressure (hopefully)

Reminds me of that episode of OFAH.
Rodney says to Del ‘Don’t tell me you actually went to the effort of changing the oil?’
Del goes ‘No, I took the bulb out’.
