Good day to all. New forum member. Have wanted a 400N for a long time and finally got me one yesterday after a long search. Needs a little work, but starts first go. I think the wheel bearings are shot, I know the rear shocks are, and theres a fair bit of sideways play in rear sprocket which means no riding until I sort a few things out. I want to get it roadworthy and ride it (hopefully with your help), then think about longer term. I am a little confused about the nomenclature....this is apparently a 1981 400N Hawk (Australian model), but they are also known as dream, superdream, and also refered to as 400T.....?? Perhaps someone can offer some clarity for me? Anyways...looking forward to membership and here's some pics. Cheers Mario

Welcome
Interesting bike - the decals on the tank and tail piece look like the Euro decals rather than the UK type
If your looking for a new set Imageworks have just reproduced them for me - sure they can do the side panels as well
Look forward to seeing photos as you refurbish it and get it on the road

Hi Mario, welcome along. Looks like you've got a few projects on the go - the 400 shouldn't be too much trouble, good luck!

Inspecting forks showed a fair bit of pitting and a desire for a rebuild. I happen to have a pair of really good 33mm CX500 forks that I rebuilt but ended up not using that look like exact replacements. A good start.
