just love the fact that some of those places actually look like proper old bike shops I walked into M&S,now a Kwaker dealer but was Honda in the old days - New bikes at the front - second hand section rear right - then to rear left older classics - Brits - Laverdas - Hondas Got to the back of the shop - sign pointing spares department up the stairs just like the old days The off road dealer, bike on the stand, exhaust pointing out the door rev-ing it up Guy out testing a bike up the hill - no helmet on What has changed as most places very few smaller bikes for the learners - not really a market any more

Great photos Pete, could almost smell the oil and exhaust fumes, none of my old Bike shops are still around.I always look out for bike shops when we drive around.I miss Carnells and Motorcycle City as they were always a good place to go to for a coffee/Burger/play on the TT bikes game etc.

fond memories of appleyards in keighley (its still there, but its sort of gone upmarket) great showroom full of interesting bikes and then the slightly oily old parts counter. the question do you have a thingummy for a cd185 benly, the answer hmm just let me have a look, then out with the microfilm a quick scan point to the screen is it that one? happy days (spot the technophobe)
