ok went off and got the gas kit for it this morning and set about having a quick play with some scrap. this is the first go with gas this was a case of getting the set up right, the gas flow was set and then its just a case of getting the wire feed right. this is the second attempt without blowing my own trumpet too much I’m quite chuffed with that, I think I’v found the set up now just down to practice and technique and as bodie suggested probably the angle grinder for a bit of a tidy. all welding tips would be gratefully recieved (m6 0.8mm semi industrial ta)

Looks pretty good Buster. You can start cutting chunks out of the frame now

Looks pretty good Buster. You can start cutting chunks out of the frame now no thanks ian, honda spent a lot of time and money getting that frame right and I know I cant improve it, but it will let me do the odd subtle addition such as the new tank mount and restricting the steering lock a bit (so the bars no longer collide with the 450dx tank) and a few other bits and bobs. I’m not chasing originality as you know, but gently gently is my approach to the bike, maybe I’ll even end up with something rideable
