The good,RIDE magazine has just included the 250n in its list of iconic motorcycles. The bad is they then go on to carry out a (typical) character assassination of the bike. I certainty do not think I look at my 250 through rose coloured specs but their descrption, really...

half the problem with journalists is back in the day they were given a bike with a full tank of juice and off they went and spent a couple of days riding round at someone elses expense, nice work if you can get it. but here in the real world its people like us who bought the bikes and lived with them day in and day out and the truth is the superdream is a good looking bike it draws interest wherever you go on one (especially these days, when modern bikes look like they do) and my personal experiences of them showed them to be very reliable. are all these modern rocketships going to be failing their mot’s 10 years from now because the engine management lights on? or the abs hasnt been properly maintained or the traction controls packed up or, well I could go on but I’ll just be happy when my dreams up and running and riding...

I haven’t read the article ( I stopped reading Bike mags years ago ) but if you look back to “the day” and look at what the Superdream was up against ie two strokes it will lose I’m afraid.Compared to the competitions four stroke equivalents though and both of the Superdreams win hands down, not many of the journos Do this though.Look at the big advantage to this ie we don’t pay silly exaggerated money for an “icon”

I'm the same, I read an old article on the K100 (yes, I know I keep baning on about the Ks) and it was slagged off for being "Predicable and Linier" in performance, and now it's the queen of the custom cafe racer scene,
Journos of that era were all "Clarkson-esk", it was all grunt, power, performance. My Old SD back in the day, took me to and from work 25mile each way, every day regardless of the weather for 3 years. My 350lc a little later tried to kill me on several occaions
Fads and fashion, horses for courses I ride what I like.
BTW, have you seen what a pristine LC is fetching? Probably because most of them are in the bottom of ditches or blown up in a garage somewhere.

Precisely and long may it stay that way regarding prices, these so called icons are bought mainly by speculators looking to make a few quid,Vincents,Broughs,Goldstars etc.etc. Superdreams are affordable For now anyway

I,ve been riding superdream on and off from being 18 back in the early 80,s , summer would come along and I,d want a bike, the superdream looked great to me , you,d get the free local advertiser and there would be a few for sale almost every week close to home , I,d buy them , use them and sell when the weather turned cooler to get my money back, my bike cost peanuts nearly nine years ago , gets used most days 8 months of the year , brilliant , how could I slate that 😀😀

To add to the above a few weeks back bumped into some old mates and the conversation got back to us riding our bikes , I told them I,d still got a superdream and that I was still enjoying bikes some 35 years on , they now both want a bike 😀😀
