just bought a 1977 400T Dream. I had one in 1978 (first bike after I passed my test). Possibly the most surprising bike I ever owned in that it was as quick as an RD400E (yes really) and had fair handling.....performance was so much better than the 400/4! Anyway my question - does anyone know what the paint colour code or name was for this bike (I have attached a pic - but it was the dark red one). Looked on RS paints and firstly it says Dreams were not made in 1977, and secondly there are 2 reds listed. smile poetry

I just looked on rs site, they list a 400t 1979 as candy antares red, go on the web and look in images for honda candy antares red and see if its the colour you want.

Very nice.... is it a metallic paint? It doesn't look like the Tahatian red that honda used on the late 70's CR's as i think that was brighter?
Coincidently it looks like the colour i used for my sub frame, frame etc but thats an aftermarket effort called dark cherry, RAL code 04D45.
Bit hard to tell from the piccy but try the following Honda colours;
Red, MXA6B, R6C-S or PEX1B R151C PEX2B (Dark Red) Wineberry AVC1B
If all else fails and you cant find any clues to colour on the frame numbers you could try colour matching??

Be aware that candy colours are one transparent colour over the top of another colour and then clearcoated over the top, not that easy to get correct.

Take time to study CMSNL parts diagrams and you will find the colour is what was stated above. Clearly visibly darker than Candy Bourgogne red anyway. Get to specsavers.

It's okay Pete and I hope you did not think my response too abrupt, I was having a joke. I think you thought we were discussing one of the Superdream reds.
