Had a bit of a disaster over the weekend. Pushing my SD back into the garage, I have to go over a bit of a step before entering the garage. Pushing at a bit of an angle and over the step the handlebars flipped to the left and broke the steeping stop, the one attached to the frame. It's not completely broken off but sort of peeled away on one side. I was quite surprised that it came off so easy, but it docent look like it has been broken before. I've tapped in back into position and will strip the yoke down and weld it back over the weekend. There is one thing I have noticed and I can't say if it was like it before or not. The stop is as good as back in the original position and I notice I have a lot more lock to the left (sitting on the bike) then I do to the right is this normal or do I need to reposition the stop plate to even the lock to the same each side??
Many Thanks Ross

But I have access to a mig welder and can weld it back with no problem. (I'm an ex mechanic for the emergency services with 44 years experience) As in my first post There seems to be more lock to the left then to the right is this normal?? Thanks Ross

As far as I’m aware, both lock always seem to have the same travel. Anyone else have any thoughts?
Has she had a knock previously possibly as it looks like the tank has had a makeover in the past? I know we had a member once who had this and the stop was missing on the rhs after an accident - handlebar switchgear put an almighty dent in the right side of the tank.

Thanks for the info a pictures guys.
I'm going to strip the front end down over the weekend and have a good look at the stop that's welded to the frame. The two lugs are still attached to the bottom yoke. I'll keep you all posted.
As above thanks for the info and pics Ross
