Today I found myself back at Milton Keynes in Bedfordshire (exam day). I've been going there the last few weeks on a work training course and today was the day to pay this place a quick visit. As I was driving up a road known as the A421 (for the first time a few weeks ago) I noticed a Honda Motorcycle dealer tucked behind a petrol station. More in a bit.

I couldn't find the official entrance so the mechanic let me go through the back door (I asked him where the parts department was). Basically the parts dept was in the showroom......lots of new bikes there but the showroom was noticeably odourless....more in a bit.

Correction.....technician is the correct description these days, not mechanic.
But you knew what I meant. More in a bit.

The last time I used to regularly visit a Honda showroom like this was probably around 1990/1 (Great Western Motorcycles, Reading)......now an office block.....I used to go there most Saturdays and buy parts for my old C50.
Times have really moved on, haven't they? More in a bit.

I looked around the showroom trying to find something that floated my boat. I am unsure what I was expecting......I know what modern motorbikes are like in 2018.....amazing clean efficient technological things.....Honda always were at the forefront of technology never looking back....so I don't know what I was hoping to see. Anyway, I was here to conduct an experiment in my own mind which was relating to parts......but something glimmered in the corner of my eye, just before I wondered over to speak to the attractive middle aged bespectacled lady sitting at the parts department desk.....

So as I'm about to saunter to the lady on parts I notice a tidy restored CB550 in between the plastic.....worth a pic or two for sure.....looked in good nick. Certainly wasn't expecting to see it and is not the point of this whole thread.....more in a bit.
