covers over the "head bolts"!! honda take note....and this was made under wartime conditions!! notice the big ends......a big end riding on a big end......
valve seats screwed and shrunk in
inter cooler "mesh screen" ? not mentioned in book......
look at the rocker pads!! its been out in all the wind and rain since 1940 ish!!!
arran fawddwy in behind the camera......
farmer didn't allow the national park to scrap this engine when they went mad and "cleared the mountains of junk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" however very good museum at Llandwrog near Caernarfon, well worth a visit when you are in the area..........any wreckologists amounst you guys??
the one from llanbedr, the rocker shafts where bent into a "S" shape......still some live ammo up on that site........
oil hole in rocker pads, oilway in rocker arm from shafts, oil feed at about 5psi up to rocker shafts etc.........
lest we forget

yep the one on arran fawddwy......others there also.....a dam good hike up the mountain.........O.S. map references available if you want..............but there are some much easier site around.........Halifax on the Rivals, Anson at back of Barmouth, B17 on Cader.........................and an other B17 by Treweryn, site visible from road and about an hour and a half walk.

very nice Rich, as you say look at the quality of the metal to last that long. amazing engines, anyone remeber the car someone built with a merlin engine and got into trouble by using the RR logo and radiater cover ?
my grandad was an engine fitter working on these at RR during the war, got a sodium filled exhaust valve and me dads got a cylinder liner as a door bell.
