Has anyone seen an outfit like this before? Spotted it at a classic bike meet near Hereford, the owner is the second owner from new!

most of the bikes of that era would probably have had sidecars, you have to put yourself back in time, a bike with a chair was a workhorse ( the alternative at the time was a literal workhorse or a car and cars of the era were usually coach built and a priviledge that only the very wealthy could afford) it was also family transport. its also worth remembering that the roads at the time were likely cobbles in towns and cities and pretty much rough dirt tracks more or less everywhere else. sadly (cos I’v always quite fancied an outfit) the chairs these days are pretty rare I’m guessing most of them were given up for the war effort. when all said and done thats a glorious looking outfit and the owner should be rightfully proud to own such a lovely thing

brough built a dedicated sidecar bike if i remember rightly and it had twin wheels at the rear. there is one in the national motorcycle museum with, i think, a straight four engine similar to the austin 7.

There were quite a few oufits around when I first started riding in the 60s 'cos they got round the 250cc learner limit. My avatar is me & my mates Bernie & Phil on Phil's Dommie cafe racer outfit. He started out on a C15 for a while, but couldn't wait 'till he passed his test to get something bigger. I had a go once, but couldn't get the thing to turn.

Love the B&W photos - the days when they were taken as it was a milestone to record
