does any one have any opinions on the 2 front mudguards from david silver ? like does the copy one justify its cost to the cheaper universal one etc my bike has the cheap one on it , no idea how long its been on the bike etc but its starting to rust like no ones business regardless of cleaning / polishing as soon as weather gets near it . have thought about rechroming it but what I have read on cost doesn't seem viable
cheers paul

The DS one is essentially a CX500 copy item. I understand it sits slightly higher on the SD than the genuine 413 part.....but I know that Richard (Somersetdreamer) has one and it looks good - a lot nicer than the RD style pattern ugly thing.

Paul Happy to dig mine out and take some photos (probably on Sunday) if it helps
My suggestion (if you are going to Stafford) is normally on teh balcony there is a stand with CX500s on it - some have the pattern and some the original Honda style, its a good comparison to help you

Could it not be made to sit lower? Anything is possible..... Why not just get a slightly taller tyre if it bugs you, maybe a 3.25 instead of a 3.60? It does not sit that much higher. Only a purist would potentially pick up on it.

The replica front mudgard I have is the more expensive of the two silvers has for sale I've had it over three years & its holding up well & looks very good in my opinion, I do have a original one VGC tucked away but I'm saving it for the deluxe I'm going to put together in the next year or so, anyway I do recommend it as compared to the chunky cheaper one it looks a lot more like the original, although the cheaper one is cheap it is strong & long lasting just not a very close match, depends on personal choice which you think is best for you.

Coincidentally, I ordered me one of the expensive ds ones this very day to replace the cheap one.

Hi IMHO not worth doing anything with aftermarket muddy other than buy a new one, think they're only thirty odd quid. Got a second-hand OE CX500 on mine now but took a long time to find a good one at sensible money. if you have the standard size tyre you could mod the aftermarket to sit lower maybe.
