Was all set to do a charity run on my Harley and the battery was flat! The battery that failed was bought August 2015 as I was advised by “experts” that a running problem was caused by a duff battery, removed the original battery Bike is 2006 but have been trickle charging it since in garage.Stuck it back on Bike and it runs a treat. The “ new” battery is a Yuasa bought from a reliable motorfactors charged it for 24hours and hopefully it is still useable, things ain’t what they used to be lol. Yuasa always one of best you could buy, anyone else found batteries don’t seem to have a long life these days?

The Yuasa was on optimate end of last September till mid March/MOT time and I have been moving things around in garage to accommodate bigger lathe, entailed taking bikes in/out frequently and Harley gets ridden back in to where it sits so maybe I’ve drained battery as I guess a 1550 Vee twin takes a bit of cranking over. But to find the original HD battery is still ok is a shock. You’ve had some bad luck Mark with your batteries, which Dyna do you have? I had a Superglide Sport which went and handled well for a big lump.Heard there are a lot of fake batteries around but bought from a decent motorfactors my brother uses

Only lead acid battery I have is on me Hawk,That seems to be holding charge ok.I rotate them in the garage although the Harley was left on Optimate while I was away for six weeks.Lead acid ones leak onto your frame horrid things.MDS price for HD battery £92 Halfrauds £72,hard to beat Halfrauds on lot of thing

I am a firm fan of Motobatt batteries as they seem to hold charge for a very long time without regular Optimate treatment and have the guts to crank a lazy starter for a while at the end of winter (I don't mean me). Wemoto a good source.

MotoBatt are Gel AGM Batteries, aren't they? Serious power, serious money, for my 1200 I use Excide but that gets used every day, the thing is a battery is "simple" technology and prone to simple faults, I've had new-ish batteries die due to a cell going short circuit or just failing to deliver power under load even when it reports 12v on a multimeter.
I use MDS for my batteries.

I don’t like the terminals on the Motobatt batteries, bit flimsy in m6 opinion. The Yuasa’s are AGM as well and I’ve just spotted they do a HL ( high load? ) version and looking on Halfrauds site they’ve updated prices from £72 to £81 since this morning!!!

not doing well with the batteries the only bikes with usable battery up to now is the a10 and the superdream ,blue up the transformer i use for plating trying to remove the sulfate on the plates.now ordered a desulfate pulse charger and a new transformer.the main reason batteries die is lack of use.my scooter wife wanted a comfy seat 2004 fxdxi sport.sporsters were to small normal dynas no ground clearance ,shame they only made this model for 3 years probably not sparkly enough.

My first Harley was a Superglide sport bought because of the lack of chrome and “sporty” adjustable front/rear suspension and higher placed motor.I liked it but wasn’t what I wanted at the time but fancy another one to do up flat tracker style, one day,in future maybe

I have to admit I tend to recycle batteries downwards. The k1200 is BMW ABS and has to have a good battery. When it fails I whack it in the k100. When it won't start that it's a 12v bench supply that plays the radio in the shed. After that it goes to the great recycler in the sky. By that I mean I leave on the front drive and it disappears overnight.

Sadly it’s not that easy on some bikes as they need right battery to “just fit in” lol. Know what you mean about leaving them outside in my case I recently had a Honda 250 cc scooter engine kindly recycled for me,also had my car washing bucket nickid too WITH me sponge in it !!!barstards
