Hi I'm working on a cb400 at present and was considering a longer Swing arm I have read that the Rebel swing arm is longer and was wondering if anyone had completed such a conversion or had any useful info. Don't fancy chopping and plugging a swing arm Cheers

My wife has had a couple of Rebels, but unfortunately they're gone now & I never compared the swing arm with my SDs. From a quick look at the part numbers on CMS, the collars, bushes & dust seals that make up the 2 pivots are all the same part number on the Rebel CMX250 & Superdream, so the pivot dimensions are the same. The rear fork bolt has a different part number though - could be just a cosmetic difference, or the fork could be wider to allow for the wider rear tyre size. There's a Rebel forum in the states, so you could try asking there for some dimensions. www.hondarebelforum.com/

I guess it's the distance between the 2 pivots on the swing arm that's the critical one, but if the Rebel is slightly smaller, you could grind a bit off each end of the pivot tube though the frame & if it's larger, make up some spacers?

Adding spacers wouldn't be a problem, not so sure about how good my grinding would be. I've just measured the SD from centre line of the pivot to the end of the arm is 535mm. Busters measurement (above) nighthawk is 565mm. 30mm The SD box section frame at the pivot is 110mm and the inside of the arms at that point is 150mm There is a Rebel version on eBay and I've ask the seller to measure its length. It's only £28 including postage. Thanks again, I'll let you know how it goes

Thread Resurection!
How did you get on with the swap? I have a suspicion mine has been done in the past (the chain guard doesn't fit!) if you still have it could you measure the distance between the bolt holes for the chain guard for me?
Thanks!
