Would you have another, DFS? The above is a U.S export 'special' model, but they do seem quite common still.....factory 2 into 1, 'lester' alloy wheels and gold / black detailing.
Was your time living with a Bonnie heaven or hell?......maybe I am asking the obvious.

Yes I would although my experience was not good with the new one but it was one of the first co-op bikes.I love the Meriden twins,my preference would be one of the early oil in frame 650s I love the conical hub brakes,I had a 1973 TR6R the best of the Triumphs I owned

The ‘69 Bonne was the “best” Bonne made.My next door neighbors brother bought a new ‘69 Bonne and kept it till he passed away last year,it is on display in Craven museum York and it was rebuilt with genuine factory Thruxton parts

Yes last of the right hand gear change 650cc plus five speed box and first of the disc braked Bonnes but still has the conical rear hub.My new 750 was a “bitsa” built with whatever parts were available,loads of problems with it and warranty work hard to get done,Meriden would say “we built the bike,NVT are responsible” and NVT would say reverse lol. Sold it following year and bought my first Honda a 550.Still love Triumphs though

GrahamB I'm sorry....I thought it was just David responding to this thread initially (my mistake)....what do you reckon on the later 78-83 Bonneville? Have you ever owned one of these?
DFS, would you consider one?

Yes I would consider one,the later ones were well sorted.My Old T140 doesn’t show as surviving but by now any early botch ups would be sorted.They do vibrate a little lol.and bits do fall off ( indicators always moved on mine) they’re not fast but they look and sound so good.

I think the later ones are 750's but as David says should be well sorted.
I have not owned one and do prefer the 650. The purists would go for the earlier models pre 1970 (with oil tank)
But I like the oil in frame model as they should have the 10 stud head and better electrics .

The 10 stud head was a problem on my ‘76 Bonne,the head gasket would leak on the 2 centre holes and the rocker box gaskets would blow too,I used silicon instant gasket on mine.Know a guy that worked at Meriden during this period and he had a 650 Thunderbird he said was the best one to have
