A bit of a story then a question. A friend of a friend wanted help to start his 1969 Honda S65. So on Saturday I went round to have a go. The bike had been stood in his garage and not run for over 30 years. With fresh fuel, oil and a carb clean, it started and ran. I think the carb will need another clean and idle tweak but it ran well enough to ride. Even the tyres hold air for a while. He has owned the bike from new and as far as he can remember has never had a problem with it. Quite an amazing little bike, just over 5000 miles on the clock. The chrome is a bit pitted here and there and the paintwork a bit faded but completely original. Now for the question. The carb has two thin metal oil pipes going to it connected via banjo joints, I have never seen anything like that before. Does anyone know why they feed oil to the carb? I managed to download a manual and it shows the pipes but no explanation of what they do. Any ideas? Thanks. Mike.

My 1977 Honda 550 had an engine breather pipe going into the air filter box,if you overfilled with oil it would end up in the air filter box.Are the pipes not breather pipes?

Thanks for the replies. I don't think that they are breather pipes but not sure. Just never seen this done before. Looks like I might have uploaded a photo now. The banjo bolt is just above the air screw and there is another pipe the opposite side. upload a pic on the internet

It's definitely to stop carbs icing as warm oil goes round and stops ice from developing 👍🏻
