Two of my bikes are forty years old,DVLA Haven’t updated their website as it’s still worded “bikes registered before 1st January 1977” qualify for Historic vehicle class/ free road tax.On talking to DVLA they tell me one bike registered October 1977 qualifies but one registered on 1st January 1978 doesn’t,they apparently don’t give the 7 days leeway they used to and they don’t apply the year the vehicle was manufactured as qualifying date,Barstewards

Had an interesting discussion with a nice young lady at DVLA with Regards year of manufacture being the important factor and also the 7 days grace period, obviously my bike being registered on January 1st 1978 Must have been manufactured in 1977! I must have proof of manufacture from the manufacturer,in this case BMW and it costs more than a years road tax to get this ( VMCC nor any other club will date it for me)
