Nick - That system above doesnt look like Black Chrome to me. I dont remember any bike having black chrome headers - silencers yes, but not headers. It looks like black galvanizing or 'hot-dip' galvanizing. Very popular and a cheaper way to protect the steel exhaust from early on-set corrosion. GB Dunno, Carl.....not 100% convinced on that. Run your mince pies over this shop soiled NOS header pipe. That does not look like paint to me. What do you reckon?

Hmmmm - Difficult one for sure. The proof would be if you could scratch off the coating, although hot dipped galvanizing would also be difficult to scratch.
HDG is not a paint by the way, it is a coating in much the same way as chrome but by a different process.
Would need to sniff see it in the flesh to pass judgement 100% but I agree that the header in the image is not painted black.
