MOT of me K100 the other day, nearly failed on.....
Da-da_daaaaaa....
No rear footpegs fitted.
Fortunately the chap knows me well and let it slide, something like "is that a pair of rear foot rests in you pocket or are you just please to see me....."

The book says if it has a pillion seat then it should have foot pegs to go with it

The book says if it has a pillion seat then it should have foot pegs to go with it Exactly what the chap said, in fact it is so daft the Racer types who have that silly removable pillion seat generally remove it to pass the MOT, as apparently the rear pegs spoil the line of the bike???

I suppose it the same for a car with rear seat belts even if you never take passengers in the back it would still have to have seat belts fitted to pass mot

The MOT for modern vehicles is not fit for purpose really. You can pass a car MOT if no windscreen is fitted, but not if is and it's cracked.
Crazy..

But I thought there was now a minimum standard
My old Brits dont need Indicators but I was inder the impression fitting them on new bikes became mandatory in the 80's or 90's so they must have them from a certain date to pass an MOT

True but headlights are mandatory too but you can still get a daylight mot ,thats the problem with MOTs what passes at one station fails at the next theres an awfull lot of grey areas

I think the MoT is OK. There is a lot of detail on the website, so you shouldn't ever have a fail (and yes, I have for various daft reasons). It's not perfect, but as a simple universally-applied test with enough loopholes if you know what you are doing, it's OK.
Imagine if we had the TuV?
