Yes they do look unsightly when huge bits like that are missing but when it comes back hopefully colour matching it will look stunning,
My brother in law did a similar thing with his gsxr 1000 & when it came back I went around & it looked stunning & I told him so, he wasn't pleased & I asked why " look closely"
He said, it looked perfect match to me but he is the most fussy bloke in the world & he sent it all back to the paint shop saying it was a mismatch, they refused to do the work for him & said he was to fussy, I never told him but I agreed with the paint people it looked really good to me, I don't think you can ever get a totally perfect match unless you have every panel done at the same time.
