What does a man do on a day off work ? Go down to his favorite bike workshop and so it seems more bike blokes thought the same I turned up at Daves to tinker with the 400SD and a minute later Pual turned up and a minute after that Kerry turned up with a 70,s grass track / speedway bike with a westlake 500 motor running on ethanol so he and Paul started tinkering with that while Dave rebuilt a zx6 race engine and I fitted the new shocks to the SD Firstly I removed the tops and fitted the original powder coated Honda ones they are a bit better than the repro ones you can't tell in the pic but they are honda one on right then fitted to bike [/url then the decals [/url and one of the air box decals which blew off on the initial wash down (gen Honda )
hopefully the crack cases will be back from Smethursts soon so we can rebuild the motor

call me a bit of a div (plenty do) but having been away from bikes for a few years I'd never come across this acf50. just looked it up and had a bit of a read about it and well WOW I think I'll have to have a tin of that. the clincher for me was reading that the US navy spray their planes down with it, as my father told me when he was in the army (aircraft engineer or pongo) every time a plane landed on an aircraft carrier it got a £10,000 hose down with wd40, that was eary 70's

Note much to report on but some bits back from powder coaters i.e. The handle bar and master cylinder clamps so we finished of the 1100 gixser and its ready to be put through the Manx mot i think it's turned out really well for the state it was in when we started Ps the 98R1 in the background has just come in for a full going over it has only 5,000 miles under its belt but not been on the road for 5/6 years so carb strip, brake strip engine check over new tyres etc
