Yes, Nick probably has a NOS one rather than a beat up S/H item. I think back in the day most dealers had the Souriau gear as it did a few more tests than the official Honda supplied equipment. Souriau supplied a vast range of testing equipment to the motor trade, so I suppose mechanics from other jobs would be familiar with the kit. Honda's official workshop test gear was supplied by Kowa Seiki Co, and you may notice your Honda Tools on the bike are marked "KOWA". Dealers had to have at least one of the units below, which I think were more expensive. There were several versions- this is the more comprehensive SRH-500 which does have a very useful spark gap tester and is powered by 12VDC so usable anywhere. The FSM will refer to this unit in various places....
