What size is the zone, I'm not too familiar with London, I know the airports, tube and some of the areas. No doubt the Irish government who I rate as criminal vermin and their German dictator overlords will be bring a similar regressive tax into Dublin before the end of the year.

London doesn't affect me but how long before its in all major cities, it's revenue raising pure and simple, why don't they just be honest about it.

i agree, but its not about congestion its about revenue, all they want is more money. If all that were allowed on the roads were pushbikes they would create a tax for them!. It is all the governments care about.

Couldnt this sort of legislation force all the classic cars and bikes off the road eventually?

What is it- motorcyclists are only a tiny percentage of road users? And older classic bikes a fraction of a percent of this tiny percentage? Cannot be to generate revenue then?
Sounds more like ticking euro boxes that we are doing our bit to save the planet.....

By 2020 they will be up to Euro Spec 55, now 55 is a quear one, it specifies that engines must not only produce zero carbon but the engine must actually remove carbon out of the air it travels through. They call it carbon negative or something like that. (By the way I'm talking bullS**t, but I'm enjoying it)

nothing to do with pollution, its do with selling new cars, and bikes are just not wanted anyway,( cost to much for insurance companys and national health) hybrid petrol/electric ou just electric, they want to sell electric cars because neuclieur energy is a very very big bisness with very good huge investement returns. and petrol because more tax is made on petrol than deisel,
no one still knows what to do with the batterys yet, at the moment thay are " dumped" in payed poor countries. it's reckoned that they will have the recycling solution in about 8 years time. i have freinds here who work for renault/nissan/peugot in the design departements and they are scandalised with the way the moter industry is heading (fast). thay are saying that a new car in the near future ( in 3 to 5 years) will have a built in obselecence of 5 years and not because of changing euro pollution laws, build cars crap, expensive and sells lots, keep your superdreams at least thay last almost half a lifetime.
