found on a royal enfield furom . at the end of the recent and excellent channel 4 documentary our guy in india. our hero guy martin in praising the re bullet 500 he was taken with the idea of riding the bike home to grimsby. admirirable this thought is,it has not been feasible to do this for some time because, although it can be done ie buying the bike cheaply and riding it to the uk,the dvla will not register an india sourced machine for use on the road in the uk. the reason for this is that all machines legitimately imported have to be ce compliant or homologater for use in europe. regrettably the indian market product is not compliant and although you could spend time and money going through the sva process (single vehicle authorisation) by the time you get to the dvla they will still want a manufacture certificate of hormologatoin. the chennai factory not issue this to you no matter how you ask them. therefoure the value of the bike after import duty ,vat sva testing etc. will be scrap value . rode a royal enfield in goa about 6 years ago it was the worst bike i have rode in my life gave it back the nest day and rented a scooter of one of the cooks at the hotel .nether rode a uk bike.

You could always sell it to someone wanting to do return trip to India :DI had one of the old 500 Bullets just over year old cheap as chips put an Amal carb,Boyer ignition, straight through exhaust and change of gearbox sprocket, cracking bike for money and parts again cheap traded it after a year at good profit.Don't know much about the new engined ones,I worked at Enfield parts people Hitchcox for short spell

I like the look of the new bullets and I think the sound is great but I was put off buying one as they seem to need a lot of work at low mileages, although they do appeal to me just not practical , I could be wrong ....

I'd have one subject to funds & garage space, just not as an only bike.
