And I am wrong the one I was thinking of is the Carberry Enfield built in Australia by Paul Carberry for only $22000 it was a 1 litre v twin .I had heard RE were coming back to Britain but nothing about the models they will be making/assembling here but Mark is usually on the ball with his postings so we will have to wait and see

Heard rumours of the factory doing a vertical twin few years ago but unlikely as it would cost too much to produce, labour is very cheap in India so unlikely to see Enfields built in UK again

I did read about it and I think it is the design side of things that is coming back to the UK not production.

Enfields are beautiful, the Electroglide and the Bullets are the nicest I think. I can still never get my head around why it would cheaper to ship them from India then to build them in the UK. It takes a lot of diesel to power a ship from India to UK as well as the costs of running, staffing and maintaining ships. The UK has Iron ore and north sea oil and gas. There needs to be a return to building and selling locally, think of all the jobs it would create for working class people and how this would reduce social problems as well as help the economy. When you add up all the economic and social costs, it would make more sense to build them in the UK, I think. Instead of the costs of young people on social welfare, or the cost of keeping them in prison, it would be better to train them up on building bikes, but then the solicitors and judges would be out of work.

Just thought I'd add this, in case anyone has not saw it. royalenfield.com/uk/motorcycles/
I think I would rate the Royal Enfield Bullet as the nicest looking bike ever build.
