And then this morning I get a personalised letter from DVLA returning my SORN application form ! Apparently SORN does not apply to a vehicle that was not taxed before 1998 so no SORN needed - its hard keeping up it really is ! No info on BBC though - sent in the same envelope ..........

Yes, didn't really want to turn your thread into a DVLA bashing frenzy but they do get me going.....
My recent experience (18 month back).
I got a Suzuki Bandit from NI and had to get it registered over here......there were two options. I could choose to let it keep the original NI plate or they would give me an age related English plate - as the bike is a July 2000, it would have been on a 'W prefix'.
I went to the DVLA in Birmingham, I think it was Hall Green or that kind of area and ( as well as ticking the box on the form to say I wanted the W plate) I asked the attendant at least three times to ensure this happened.
Two weeks later my V5 arrives and you guessed it - it had the NI plate assigned. I mean how f*cking hard can it be??
They are muppets of the highest calibre I'm afraid. Jobsworths.......
