I know we have some experienced EBayers on here who will be able to answer this.
If you have an item up for auction and it doesn't reach what you had hoped for is it ok to withdraw the item and stating the reason that the item is no longer available then to immediately re-list the item with a steep reserve?
It happened to me yesterday and it's really frustrating.
Thanks guys.

This is happening more and more now, I have had 2 items I had bids on disappear off the radar this week. Best to think of EBay as NOT an auction site and that no-one is bound by any rules of fair play and integrity....
I think as a seller, you can end any auction early and either cancel all bids or sell to the highest bidder at the time. Within 12 hours of the end I think you can only end and sell to the current highest bidder. Re-listing anything whether previously cancelled or not is ok too.
In any sellers defence, because all the bidding now takes place in the last few minutes, many get nervous and pull the item early before they lose money on the deal...

I think it's a waste of time complaining to eBay they do not seem to care about much apart from making loads of money 10% commision is to high in my opinion but it's the only site to use for selling as others don't get the hits so for the moment eBay seems to have the market place to themselves.

I very recently won a pair of side panels for the start price of 99p as I was the only bidder. I paid immediately and after 4 days enquired if they had been despatched. The reply was that I wasn't getting them for 99p and he refunded my money.
Some people don't understand how an auction works and these people destroy the site. If you expect a certain amount then put a reserve on it.

The issue with that is that ebay reserves are expensive.
Personally therefore I think ebay have a lot to answer for. They could certainly bring down the price of putting a reserve on but greed stops them.

I think I,m going to have the same prob as cheggy, I was the only bidder on a rotor, the starting bid was £1. I payed as soon as I won but the begger hasn't claimed payment yet, I reckon he won't either. Why don't people put a sensible starting price on items if they won't accept the price it goes for?

Too right fordy, he'll be reported OK, he's in Germany, been selling a few things on ebay recently. I'll give him a day or two, see if he does claim my payment from PayPal, if not I'll report the b*gger>

I messaged him this morning to see. What was going on and within minutes he'd accepted payment, says he's dispatched it and provided a tracking number, so watch this space:)
