I had an interesting chat with a specialist contract welder at work today and later in the evening/night . He gets called in occasionally both as an advisor as well as to do Tig welding. He is from Aberdeen and worked most of his life as a welder and welder inspector on North Sea oil and gas rigs. He worked on the Piper Alpha too, showed us some photos and told us his version of events. I brought him home to meet the family and see the bikes, had dinner and dropped him back to his hotel late. He recons he might build an almost all stainless steel bike, (frame, tank, chassis, mudguards etc) then just add standard SD forks. maybe a copy of an SD. He took a few photos and measurements. I'm sure he would be well capable if it ever happens I will get pics. It was sure fun talking about it with him.

That would probably make an already heavy bike even heavier although if painted Silver it should still be quick.(According to FB anyway)
