looks nice, but is it right for a 1948 model? I thought they were rigid's? This is my 1959 Matchess G80 500. I also have a 350 G3LS as well.

That's a real beauty, there something right about a straight up vertical cylinder, always looks good, also the vertical shocks. The only modern bike that I can think of that still has a vertical cylinder is the Suzuki LS650.

That is a beautiful bike! I have to ask what is sticking up vertically from the rear axle? is it some kind of axle removal aid?

The G3LS is a 1961 ex Auxiliary Fire Service bike. It was restored by my uncle just over a year ago. Unfortunately a week before Christmas we found out he has cancer (just 54 years old) and its terminal. He has sold most of his 14 bikes but gave this one to me. My ante has kept the '57 G80 and a '55 (I think) Matchless 350 competition scrambler which is completely original and unrestored. I'll be taking over the maintenance of them for her and hopefully she wont give up riding. She sold her Ducati monster though as she only ever rode it with my uncle and its a bit too big for her to manage on her own.
