so the lads 400 died due to a dead cdi unit.............this unit is similar to the one given to me some time ago ( also dead ) for a "DIG".......which is marked with an "A" for automatic?? ( hondamatic?? ) the lads is marked with a "C".............
the dig unit is nearly completely apart with all the potting "rubber" removed......the pcb is clearly printed for component placement ( and has Japanese writing for wire colours )........
pics will appear when completely ready.........
note, the yellow coil wire "pulse feed to ht coil" copper track is very very close to the "KILL WIRE" copper track.......I wonder if its shorting inside there?? still don't work when kill wire disconnected from loom so probably not.........more to come, off to source cdi unit.......so he can get to work in quick time.......he already has a long day without adding 2 hours commute ( 12 miles each way ) waiting for a bus!

Just so you know Rich, the A does not stand for Hondamatic...... The 'A' donates the earliest models of 400N CDI and are the ones that I have often found to have trouble with. In fact the one I gave you was an 'A' marked item which you may recall, caused me some issues last year. Never had trouble with a 'C' or 'D' marked item.....................improved versions perhaps ?

Rich, I think I have one in the shed. Will check tomorrow (Saturday). Be careful with the Speed Shop, he has had my CDI for over year and a half without fixing it.

There should be a CB250N and a CB400T CDI in the shed. Mr. S. Odds Law has applied and it seems I have found the 250 one first? I will delve into the bowls of the shed later today. But that is a dark and mysterious place where there is a black hole down which carefully stored motorcycle parts disappear into a parallel universe. (I think smiley-sw018 ) Will report back later.

if you have a redundant one, a spare would be good as the rex one has arrived.....someone said "good luck with the rex speed one??"
the last time someone said "good luck" was the delivery driver of a ford factory recon v4 reconned by idiots in a ford plant??? wrong shells fitted!!
so please be good to me god.......
a 400 cdi would be used on the quarry bike as that's is what I'm short of for that bike.......

Still searching Rich. I think the wood mice that live under the shed have moved it! If I can find it I will contact you.
