Welcome along. My guess is that you have another engine as the matching numbers are usually only a handful of numbers apart. It matters not one bit. I am also fixing a 400 (The four hundred fibber), so it is nice to have some company. A great way to start the new year 👍

Hi Freddie welcome along, I hope you enjoy both your project & the finished bike. Sounds like the frame is from an early 400N, 2000020 ~ 2027217 and the engine is from the next model, the 400NA, 2100006 ~ 2124006. I'm with Duffer, doesn't matter it's still a 400 Superdream - great bikes! There's a model identifier thread on the forum, but I think you need to have submitted a few posts before all of the forum opens up

Freddie, welcome to the forum. I have done a full nuts and bolts resto on my 400NC and I am 68! The hardest jobs were removing the engine/frame bolts as they had corroded badly and the centre stand pivot (nightmare). Lots of info on this forum. It is well worth the effort as they are great bikes but you never get back what it cost you. IMHO that does not matter as the enjoyment factor of restoring an old bike is infectious. I bet it is not your last project. Dennis

Forgot to mention that you should get a parts list as that helps when identifying replacement parts. I, and probably many others on this forum, have spare parts that we did not use or could be restored. Dennis

I found a cheap ebay MAP gas torch and a Thor soft iron club hammer does the trick for me on the centre stand shaft, if you heat it to a dull cherry red along its length. For the front engine bolts I have a drilling fixture that screws on inplace of the nut, this allows you to drill through the bolt spot on center. Providing the bolt hasn't yet had its thread mullerd and you can still screw it on, you are welcome to borrow my drilling fixture, should you need to. PM me about delivery if that's the case.
