Hello everbody Thanks for letting me join the group
I am a born again old-age biker and now the recent proud owner of a 1980 cb250na (think with 23000 original miles), currently a non-runner, hoping to get it up and running.
A house move (a couple of years back) forced me to sell my 1960 Triumph 3TA and a 1962 BSA C15 (that I had owned for 40+ years and needed fettling after my sale) but miss bikes so have decided to move into the modern world with my 1980 cb
As a group guest I've been looking at the various feeds and impressed with the level of knowledge shown. I was so impressed by the bike rebuild and moved by the ending story documented by member 'duffer'
Now I'm a member I look forward to reading feeds previously unavailable to me and will certainly be on the lookout for bits I need for my bike. I hope to end up with a daily runner (albeit a dry weather biker nowadays) and realise that non-oem parts will need to be used.
This group looks to be the place to be to help my mission
Cheers, Phil

Not a basket case but a bit of a paperweight at the minute

Hi Phil, The bike looks like it has all it needs to be a nice runner. I do prefer the 2 into 2 exhaust system's. I am sure you know enough already to get it running, and if you want a Haynes manual just let me know. Every knackered bike I seem to get lumbered with, came with a book. None of the books could have been opened by the last owners mind you. Pleased you have enjoyed everyone's projects on here. Now it's our turn to see how you get on. No pressure 🤣 Regards Steve (AKA) Duffer

Hi Steve
Only had it a couple of weeks and working through the issues as I find them - definite problem with earthing so checking all the wiring
Roger (service second to none in my experience) at BB Bikeshop had a look at the stator (as I thought it looked like the prime reason for the weak spark) but Roger checked and tried it on one his bikes and it worked OK. Resistance on my High speed pick up is out of suggested range but if it works for Roger then it should work for me once the other problems are sorted
Found a massive draw on the battery on trying to start - starter motor off now and I can see why its behaving like it does and I am not going to try to recondition so now on the lookout for a replacement (looks like its been in water for years and corrosion made taking it apart need a junior hacksaw!) - and will likely use the wanted feed on the forum - benefits already apparent
Your start to end project and the final end is just fantastic - well done
PS - picture 1 shows a well thumbed Haynes manual in the cardboard box on the workmate in the corner of the garage
Cheers, Phil

Hi Phil, welcome along & good luck sorting the Superdream, looks fairly tidy. The 2 into 2 exhaust is a bonus - don't often get those on a 'project' bike. Had a 3TA myself years back, along with a Honda 500/4, and was quite happy swapping from one to the other & coping with changing sides for the gears & brakes, but I think those days are gone now

Hi Phil, Looks in pretty good nick...compared to what I have been dealing with. Same year, but lots missing. Thought I got it at a bargain price, but spent over £600 so far on parts and still some to go yet! Big mistake keeping account of spend! Hiding that book from the wife. 😀
