I would like to get a new helmet.I got an old close face helmet. There are so many to choose from now. Does anyone have an open face or flip and how do you get on with them. I don't really want to spend more than £100 and I do fancy a flip front. Are there better makes than others and ones to avoid. I know it can be a personal choice but would be interesting to hear your views.

I have an HJC flip helmet I bought in 2011
Comfortable and not to heavy - front flips - you can open visor and it has a sun visor that comes down
I keep it in the original box so will post photo later - to cold to go outside now

I have a caberg konda flip helmet, really good vision and very light weight, looks really good, I would recommend it.

I've also got a Biltwell Gringo in a sort of metallic, not quite gold colour. I only bought it recently, soon after I decided that my next bike was either going to be a 70's Yamaha DT or a Superdream ( haven't found one yet, but have a shortlist of 3 to look at, hopefully before Xmas, delay is because the closest is 100 miles away, furthest is 300!!) I have another, more expensive (and probably better quality) helmet which I had when I was riding daily and commuting, but I thought it was a bit too modern for a Superdream. I just really like the simplicity of the Gringo - and the colour

Certainly, the Gringo S is a decent retro helmet for the price in my opinion. I think mine was cheap because it was a bit of sh*tty colour. I made it look a tad more retro with period AGV decals and white pin stripe. The white pin stripe has now been removed. This was it getting soaked on the Welsh meet, 2015. I've always loved helmets to be in period with the bikes I ride. Not into modern helmets at all. For my BSA, I have a Davida helmet with Halcyon goggles.

Feel like a poor cousin only owning one helmet - having said that I am always tempted each time I see one of these

Picture of my Bell 500 with flip visor only wear it when on me Hardley,it’s XL and I’ve only worn it 1/2 dozen times not keen on open face prefer the full face Shoei bought recently. The shape of your head can determine the best helmet for you mine doesn’t suit Arai but Shoei perfect, that’s true fact told to me by an ex Police biker/ helmet salesman
