It's the metal part of the master cylinder under the fluid bowl wow, I can imagine the normally awesome brakes were feeling a tad off with that in the pipes!

Not the best thing to find in your braking system, its amazing how bikes can actually get like this.

Not the best thing to find in your braking system, its amazing how bikes can actually get like this. The bike in question here was sitting on a hot island near San Francisco unused for nigh on 23 years. I'm guessing this is what heat and lack of use does to brake fluid. The system is currently being gone through as we speak. Restoring these original master cylinders is rewarding.....much more so than buying a cheap pattern alternative and dumping that on.

That's why I was so chuffed when Ian donated his genuine 250 one to me to rebuild and put on mine Nick he is a top man ps it wouldn't be to bad if they actually tried to make pattern stuff very close to original but the just don't seem to bother
