For me it happened in 1988......summer time. I knew there was an old moped in my granddads shed for some time and one day when we were working on his garden he said 'have this'.....it turned out to be a red PC50 registered in 1972 - JOU 531L.
As a 14 year old kid, the sense of importance I felt owning a motor vehicle was immense - being in charge of something that had an engineand a log book......a real identity....it really meant something to me.

For me I had moved away from wrantage in Oxfordshire at 13 & on a visit to see my best mate from that town he had got hold of a old Honda c50 step through & we spent days riding it around the fields (&isome roads ) I was hooked, around 6 months later I begged my dad to drive back to Oxfordshire & I brought it from him, I lived right on the edge of Rutland water & some of you have been there on a meet, I used to ride it around the bit in the middle of Rutland water there is a off road track right the way around, I bet no one would be able to do that now though the fun police will have removed that for all the youngsters today, anyway that's what got me hooked

my father had a few motorbikes when i was younger, i still remember the black ajs parked in the front room, when you are a kid
you were not allowed to go in there, it was for visitors and family, anyway thats what started my fascination with them, in them days
when you went out it was just the ignition key you had to remember, not like now, phone, wallet, glasses, ete etc.

My old fella was bike mad so I've been around them fo as long as I remember, the first one I rode was an old bantam that he brought home when I was about eight took me nearly. 2 years on and off to get it going and I've loved bikes ever since.😊

Was 1981 for me and as a teenager aged 16 I needed transport to get to college which was a 45 mile journey. Went strawberry picking in the summer hols and purchased a Honda SS50-5 speed which served me well up until the Christmas that year when some kind soul liberated it from under its cover at the rear of the college residence where I lived during the week. Mum and Dad helped with a deposit on a shiny new Kawasaki KH100 which I had to wait until my 17th on January 25th to ride legally, although I had it already run in well before then just pottering around the housing estate ;-)
Rarely been without a 2 wheeled vehicle of some kind ever since. Happy days :-)
