Looking at brake piston seals and brake pads for the 400
Silvers do both, the pattern front brake pads and Honda ones, for 2 sets the Honda ones are 3 times the price of the pattern ones
Anyone got views on the benefits of the Honda ones
also there are some FrenGold ones on e-bay
Similarly the brake piston seals e-bay do pattern ones at much lower cost
Experience and views very welcome

Pattern seals in my Suzy,no problems at all,I'm fitting pattern to a pair of 400n calipers I'm rebuilding as well.
You never know how old some of the nos rubber is, I've had two sets of nos handlebar grips crack up and perish, had to bin them, hadn't been fitted very long either.

You never know how old some of the nos rubber is, I've had two sets of nos handlebar grips crack up and perish, had to bin them, hadn't been fitted very long either. I'm agree with Dave on this, I'm not keen on using rubber parts that could be years old. Having said that, I've stuck with original for brake seals & fork oils seals since I had a some pattern piston seals leak from the outset when I was rebuilding my CB500R a few years ago. I didn't do anything except replace them with Honda seals and 13,000 miles on they are still fine. These were the duff ones - avoid! www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HONDA-CB-500-1993-96-500-CC-FRONT-CALIPER-SEAL-KIT-/270985597710?epid=844326809&hash=item3f1800130e:m:m6Pz9v8fCLOi6Y3gVrhk0ygI've fitted half a dozen Tourmax master cylinder kits over the years, and never had a problem, probably best with pattern parts to stick with a make you've been happy with before.

I tend to put oem pads in my bikes but haven't bought any for a SD yet so can't comment.Regarding seals I always bung pattern ones at a fraction of oem and have used a few on SD's just bought one recently for between 4 and 5 quid.

It's easy to make seals/O rings and they are likely superior quality to oem stuff.I've had seals and O rings made to pattern of originals by a company in Cheltenham
