Anyone know of an alternative that will work? Discontinued.

Oh yes, I remember now. That goes in the master cylinder to hold the brake light switch. Mine is rusty but as you say they are not available. Just done a quick search and Screwfix sell 4mm panheads that are bright zinc coated. They are 30mm long, so I think it would be possible to use these. There would be just sufficient to hold in the chuck of a lathe and turn off the thread to achieve the correct dimensions. A pack of 25 costs only £1.89. The downside is that the bit that's turned down would not be plated so would rust pretty quick but of course that's the bit that goes inside the housing to hold the switch body in, so is not seen anyway. Could be an option if you're stuck. Mike.

I did something similar to Mike's suggestion on one of my m/cyls, but I just filed the end to get the required 'pin'. Would get you going, or rather stopping, until you can locate a nos one?

Yes - would be okay - not exactly seen?
Do you have an original to work from? I think I annoyingly tossed my chewed up one at the weekend (before I realised they were NLA).
The dustman also came yesterday so there is little chance of retrieving it now.....always the bloody way.
