When growing up in Reading in the 80's, our next door neighbour had the exact same car / colour albeit a 1600cc.

Another Capri fan - I've had 4, the first 3 were all new company cars as I was lucky enough to work for a company who let you have anything you wanted as a company car provided you paid the extra lease cost above a standard allowance. No question for me, got to be a Capri! Had a 1.6S, then they stopped making that model so I got a 1.6 Laser followed by a 2.0 Laser. I ordered another 2L laser, but got a note back from the lease company 'No longer in Build'. Bu66er! I went for an Opel Manta instead, but it wasn't the same so I gave up after that and just got something cheap & cheerful. Then they changed the scheme & you could buy & run your own car, so I bought another 2L laser, an mot failure, which I tidied up, got through the roadworthiness test over here & ran for 5 years. Finally sold that in 2000 to a guy I know, who still has it. I did about 70k miles over each 2 year lease & the Capris never broke down & drove well after 70k where the other cars I had were rattling & banging. Would love another - pity you won't sell yours!

Essex reg's were quite memorable to me as Ford must have had a very effective press department back in the day. Their cars often graced shows such as The Sweeney, Dempsey and Makepeace, The Professionals, CATS Eyes and more.
Other Essex reg's were AR, VW, HK, HJ, NO etc.

My old man had a bright yellow 1.6S.......SCF 336Y.
Him and a few work mates clubbed together to buy it as a commuter for work. Served them well for many years.
