I still cannot understand how Silvers ran out literally minutes after sending the email out (I am told)? He must have had to order 100's to cover the tooling and setup costs..... I also find this a little bizarre....and the fact not one person on here has stepped forward as yet to say they got one. Very very very strange. What's the story mornin' glory? Are 'waters' being tested?

That's perfect, what's going on? I was dithering about an order but seems as usual "he who hesitates... gets sod all!"
So was there an early bird?
Grrrrrrr

I thought you could just pay in advance, so they are on "back order".Ok I guess if you don't mind waiting...

He must have just found a few, or released a couple reserved for other uses. Mr Silvers is definitely in the league of popping over to a Far East trade show and getting hundreds of these made......

Someone mentioned earlier in the post that the exhaust downpipes were back in stock too, so I thought happy days I'll get mine now which have been on back order for months. I went on to DS site and it said the down pipes were out of stock. I then checked my account and the pipes are not showing as being on back order. I had ordered them with a load of other bits and pieces in November and they sent the rest of the stuff out, after I asked them too, but now it shows the whole order as being despatched together including the pipes. I have emailed them and am awaiting a response. I can't see him getting just a few collectors made as it wouldn't be financially viable for a factory to set up the tooling to produce them and then just do a few, unless he found a factory which has bought the original tooling from Honda or Sankei. In which case he may have got a few samples done which have sold out quickly.

I had earlier mentioned that I had enquired to DS about supply and construction, and I can tell you all I recieved a parcel this morning with the pattern collector in it. Yippee! So here is my very amateur assessment of 'it' It's neatly welded, fairly light at 2.15kg with no curved inlet pipes within, just a large cavity from end to end and side to side. I hurriedly got stuck into applying it to my resto ehich it fitted without too much swearing. I had no original silencers but the pattern ones I bought appeared to be 'too long' both sides (comparing the silencer hanging bolts to the untouched plate it bolts to). So after application of an angle grinder all fitted ok. When firing up the engine there was issues with the collector joints blowing a bit. This could possibly be caused by the pipe-ends of the collector not being malleable (soft) enough , but on the other hand it may just be me.
Im no expert but on the whole it looks good value for money.
I hope I'm not the only one to get one??

After a better look at the issues regarding the blowing of the exhaust has shown the problem to be the difference in the inside diameter (I/D) of the DS collector and the outside diameter (O/D) of the DS port gaskets. Disregarding the angle of the whole construction, which is not the initial problem, the clearance between the IN and OUT pipework is: at least 1.2 on the IN side 0.6mm on the OUT Another description is a 44mm gasket O/D within a 45.2 I/D pipe IN and 49mm gasket O/D within a 49.6 I/D pipe OUT. Am I being a tart or is this not good enough? BTW the DS exhaust clamps are max'd out gripping for all there might but are not closing the gap even when closed up touching at the bolt. Any advise gladly received

That one was unusual- sniping software out of control does that sometimes. It was a very nice box though......

Dug out one of my pattern collector boxes to check, and it has a 3-555537 sticker on it, so must be Hi-level other than no internal pipes it appears a good replica of the original including original 5mm thread size for the heat shield screws.

So in a nutshell John it could be safe to deduce that the Hi Level item is not what DS is currently selling?

These pattern ones were bought quite a few years ago, unless the number on the sticker is the subcontractor manufacturers reference perhaps. Maybe they have lost the detail drawing, if they are from the same factory? The 6mm securing bosses are a big disappointment, as I would not be drilling NOS heat shields to suit a 6mm screw! That prompted me to get one of these out and check they were 5mm. In comparison with an original ....
