I've heard the name. Are they still in existence?
Great memory / pic.

P.S - can you tell us more about the picture, I mean who all the people are?
Looks like your colleague is showing you a silencer.

Sadly out of business years ago - shop was a Pizza Express last time I was down the Fulham Road. The old chap was an amazing man - a walking Honda microfiche - he would recite part nos to me when a customer asked for some obscure part and I would go rooting for them 'out back'. He was an old ex-army type and a great laugh.

Was he one of the feuding Rye brothers of Fulham? Ex-speedway riders?
Did some quick googling yesterday and found that info.

Another thing I remember about working there was being able to go to the construction shop a few streets away under the railway arches - it was my job to go and collect the new bikes and bring them back to the showroom - so I got to drive mint CBX's, Goldwings, CX500's and of course the CB250 & CB400s. These bikes were a great leap forward in style by Honda and knocked the spots off everything else on the market at the time.

Not sure - I was too interested in the girls I met through working there to enquire... I am trying to remember his name (the owner) - he was a nice chap. His children drew me a get well card when I ended up in hospital after ploughing head first into the M6 on my 250N (which managed to get split in two when the steering yoke snapped off). Could have been Rodney Rye. but soooo long ago now I can't be sure!

The name I came across was Claude Rye I think? Perhaps another family relation?

How the heck did you split a yoke on a 250N?

How the heck did you split a yoke on a 250N? Ah, well, I left it lying in the middle lane of the M6 while I slept soundly in the fast lane. A car driving in the middle lane that same stormy night ran into the bike and split it in two. The driver very kindly walked up the road a bit in the dark to see where the ex-rider of this obstacle to his progress had gotten to and found me. I will post up some pics of that sad looking end to a lovely machine in due course.

yeah - bike was only a year old. Had to be scrapped. But many years later when my son started to ride he got a 250n and that is the one I managed to keep and am now restoring

Now I remember, the reason I crashed may have been related to the gear change lever. The last thing I remember is about 100 miles away from where I actually crashed, but I recall stopping to fix the gear change linkage that had fallen off. Odd that. So perhaps it came off again at motorway speed and that destabilised me.
