What a find , looks to have T clocks in the pic ? , there was a CX500 engine on Ebay recently that was a "dealer demo" or similar that had earlier than "usual" engine number iirc , perhaps this was a special early bike for European dealers to show off ? Congratulations

Yes, this bike could only have been a development bike, demo bike or brought over for the launch- I wonder when it was first registered? What dates are on the wheels Ben- month/year of manufacture are the 3 or 4 figures stamped before "DOT" on the rim?
Belgium/Holland seemed to be the location for a lot of Euro market development and research back then. Yamaha "always" rigidly stuck to the first production frames and engines starting with #101 and I wrote articles and guides on models based on this. But there's a guy in the UK currently restoring a XS500C with frame #43- bike was used by Yamaha in Holland as a development mule and brought back here by an employee afterwards....

Could it not be one of the last Honda Dreams ? Converted to a Suoerdream perhaps, some pics of the wheels might answer it? It's certainly a CB250N - you can see it on the VIN plate, Gary.

Wow Ben- at February 1978 your back wheel is by far the earliest all aluminium Comstar I have seen, early UK bikes were getting 5/78 and 6/78 codes. but then your front wheel at some 4 months later is probably not original- usually the wheels match or at most a month apart.
What are your plans for the restoration? It obviously needs indicators, but are you keeping the earlier Dream clocks?

Interesting.....
I wonder if those clocks were certainly on it from day one? That front comstar from Feb 1978 is certainly the earliest one I've seen....and it's not a Dream item for sure.

i'm on it since one year currently, the frame was completely sand blasted and coated with epoxy coating. i 've disassembled the engine and blasted with glas micro ball. he's reday to receive coating. the cylinder is rebore 0,5 and valve an cylinder head rectified . Carbs completly rebuild. I like T clock more than N clock.... so Indicators are missing I think of it www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/CB250N-SUPER-DREAM-1979/part_28231/ In sumary my plan is rebuild each part as well as I can. sorry for my bad english

Don't worry about your English it is okay.
So I think what you are saying is that you put those earlier clocks on the bike? It would make sense to me as they are 110mph clocks (translated from KMH of course)......not what one would find on a 250T but a 400T from new.
