Hi guys, Today I had the perfect combination of cracking weather, gear with me, time to kill between jobs and the willpower to overcome my laziness so I finally managed to produce some pics an a short vid of my 1982 CB400N(B?). The bar I replaced with a (Simson S51) sport handlebar, the sticker and paint job was done by the previous owner. The last time I posted a video it was of the bike when I was still thinking about buying it. That was of the stationary bike, this time I moved her around a bit, so somebody, who is more knowledgeable than me could spot some not so healthy noise (if there is any). Please have a look, and tell me, if I should look at something. And don't get distracted by the girl in red top walking in the frame at halfway through the footage The link is www.youtube.com/watch?v=21hvKAA0UzwAlso it was explained to me, how to upload images, so I can embed them here... s12.photobucket.com/user/szabgab/media/SZG_7929_zpsxtzyvqnr.jpg.html?filters[user]=143490903&filters[recent]=1&sort=1&o=4s12.photobucket.com/user/szabgab/media/SZG_7938_zpskxhdhmoe.jpg.html?filters[user]=143490903&filters[recent]=1&sort=1&o=7s12.photobucket.com/user/szabgab/media/SZG_7967_zpsuyvrsa9x.jpg.html?filters[user]=143490903&filters[recent]=1&sort=1&o=0s12.photobucket.com/user/szabgab/media/SZG_7932_zpsr0bum5lq.jpg.html?filters[user]=143490903&filters[recent]=1&sort=1&o=3s12.photobucket.com/user/szabgab/media/SZG_7949_zps32vh6qxm.jpg.html?filters[user]=143490903&filters[recent]=1&sort=1&o=5s12.photobucket.com/user/szabgab/media/SZG_7945_zpsfc6kafws.jpg.html?filters[user]=143490903&filters[recent]=1&sort=1&o=2s12.photobucket.com/user/szabgab/media/SZG_7973_zpsdlghoksj.jpg.html?filters[user]=143490903&filters[recent]=1&sort=1&o=1s12.photobucket.com/user/szabgab/media/SZG_7947_zpsyekkabc4.jpg.html?filters[user]=143490903&filters[recent]=1&sort=1&o=6All feedback is welcome (especially of the sound the bike makes on the video)! Thanks, Gabriel

That worked a treat, Gabriel. How's she riding? Are you enjoying her?

Hi FB, yes, pretty much. Especially the fact, you open the throttle and something happens. With my previous 2T 50cc DDR bike doing that made it sound louder but not much else My only worry is the gears... Unless you are changing back the gears (when slowing down) whilst rolling it is very hard to do, sometimes you have to change, roll a bit, change again, roll a bit and so on... Many times it switches somewhere in between - you release the clutch, it makes a clunking noise whilst engaging correctly. Also first gear tends to engage but clunks once when accelerating. I wouldn't think it's something bad on a Warsaw pact bike, but Hondas are known to be very spot on with their gears?

Sounds like the clutch is not disingauging, Could be plates stuck together or the clutch basket slots are notched causeing plates to rest together,
Oil quality is another thing, Old oil could make plates gum together.
Have you checked there is not to much play in the gear lever linkage ?
Check the internal linkage aswell, its behind the clutch, perhaps the "teeth" at the ends of the actuating arm are worn or notched.
Nice bike,like the stickers.

Hey David, Thanks for the info... The stickers are OK from a distance, but up close.... Bubbles and such, layer on layer, but anyway, it will come off at some point ) The gear linkage is fine, I did change the dust covers, re-greased the links and it does not have too much of a play. The clutch has been replaced very recently, like 5-600 kilometers ago (unless the seller was lying), the oil is just as new, fully clear and up to max. When I got the bike I thought the clutch is wrongly set - the back wheel was spinning rather fast with the clutch depressed and in gear, I adjusted it, till the spinning more or less stopped, but the gear behavior remained the same. I hoped I will not need to open up the side of the bike, but I might need to Also I have been told, the carbs need to be synced if taken apart for a good clean-up, another issue, as I don~t have the tools...

So, halfway there. I've got rid of the ugly aftermarket sticky job, changed the wheels, lowered the front a bit and patched on a (not so era-specific) fairing. It is a bit more Mad Max I would like it to be, but it will be finished at some point

Looking good! Have you sorted the clutch/gear changing now? Hi Ian,thanks! Yes, I have taken the bike to an old bike wizzard, and he did something, that sorted it. He did not take the bike apart, so I guess it must have been some setting issue...

Pity he's not nearer, there's a few of us who could do with a wizzard from time to time!
