Hello all. I have a opportunity to purchase a CB400A Hondamatic Hawk, manufactured in 1982. It is good cosmetically but is a non runner. The idea of semi-automatic intrigues me and it will make a good project for next winter. The asking price is £250 which seems quite reasonable but I don't know the value of the semi-automatics. I don't know the model and won't do it up to ride but will probably sell it on once it's up and running I have a 2000 CB500 which I like very much and a CB400NC which I have just tidied up so the 400A will keep me occupied over the winter months. Would you recommend me going for it? Your comments would be appreciated.

Sorry Steve. No photos available as yet, however I have decided to go for it as I want to investigate the automatic side of it, just to see how it works. The owner advises that the gear selection part of it works but the engine won't fire up, despite good sparks. I can sort that though. I have never seen this model before, are there many around, and are spares readily available? Will post photos as soon as I get them. Regards.

I think they were - well not making them as such but there seems to have been a few kicking around unsold at dealers for a good few years.
Don't think I've seen one as late as 1982 but certainly a W reg. (1980/81).

They were hard to sell as no one wanted one so stood in dealers for ages,I don't recall ever seeing one being ridden.I wouldn't mind having one now, been riding a small automatic scooter recently and like it so much looking at getting a 400 or 650 one

I think i have only seen one and that was back in the day, it was not a popular option with my mates they all wanted two strokes or trial bikes. We had a big disused quarry by us now filled with water and is a sort of sanctuary for birds, feathered type.................oh and the car park for doggers in the night time.................apparently lol!

The are, some divers have recently done a survey found quite a few stolen/dumped bikes and a mark 4 cortina complete with wrapped christmas presents in the glove box. I think the council are going to dredge it because of the number of swimmers that have died in it. Apparently there are no end of hazards down there.

Did you realise that one of the series one Ford Escort RS Turbo used in the second series of C.A.T.S eyes is believed to be in a Quarry - on the isle of Skye. The blue one - which was rare because those cars were only officially ever produced in white. This was a special factory order for the show. Fascinating fact of the day there JB.
