had a bit of a surprise this morning, opened up a letter from the dvla and it was a confirmation of change of ownership of my ducati, i still have it and have not sold it!!!!! phoned dvla and she said it is on there system and to send the v5 and a letter explaining what has happened. anyone else had this???.

It's as if someone is claiming they are the new keeper....maybe someone has applied for a V5 for it.

its been in the garage for years now awaiting refurb so only visable when im in the garage, thought someone could have cloned it at some point and that one has been sold.

Sounds a bit like a scam to me, be careful with dvla, i only send stuff to them registered delivery now cos they lose a lot of paperwork!

....and make a scan of everything.
All you need to get a V5 is a reg and 25 quid. System is designed to make it difficult for honest folk it seems. The crims just get around it.

Is the reg visible when garage door is open?
Some of these thieves and tinkers are like mag pies - they will spot it alright.

They may have got the registration from some old group photo from years ago, all they have to do is check with dvla to see vehicle status.

It is so easy to find pictures of reg plates from old photos even on arse/face book! then check with dvla what if any recent activity is and if none just clone details on the offchance mno-one will follow up on it.

Well good news I finally got the reg docs back in my name. Dvla had to investigate what had happend but wont tell me anything about it.
