Hi, has anyone experienced excessive play in the rear sprocket?. The spacer washer isn't missing, the cush rubbers are good and all looks to be well. I've resolved the problem by placing washers on each of the 4 cush pins to pack the sprocket tighter. Has anyone else had this problem?

Is the large circlip and spacer in good condition? because there is not usually any play at all (not in mine anyway)

Is the play in the studs (sideways) if so it would appear the cush rubbers are worn

You could try Wrapping tape around the studs to take up slack, people also wrap insulation tape around the whole cush block so that they are really a tight fit

Everything looks ok. On reflection, I think it must be the spacer that is worn. Thanks for your help

had a sprocket fall off as it was the circlip groove in the hub that was worn Now got play in the replacement wheel, its clunking when I select first when stationary. might try an extra washer behind the circlip.

Remember when stripping down and replacing the rear sprocket on FWF I thought not a lot is actually holding the sprocket on.....

Remember, as well as the circlip and spacer there is also a big washer that sits behind the circlip - see CMSNL for the parts diagram -it will explode if you ask it nicely.
If all is present and correct and you are 100% certain all the cush drive rubbers are good and the drive dogs are in there then you could have a worn rear wheel.

That washer should be there, anyway....

Hi Pete I had exactly the same problem. I think it is a combination of worn sprocket insert and spacer. I think the cause of the wear on the components in my case was that the outer rubber cover was missing. The whole assembly was covered in dirt. I ended up replacing the cush drive rubbers, sprocket, spacer, sprocket insert and rubber dust cover. All the best. Mike.

yeah I know, I've got two washers now. used to have two fitted on the old worn wheel. then when I replaced the wheel only one would fit. maybe time for two again. strange how its started to wear, keep it oiled and even got the rubber boot that sits over the circlip now.
