I think it's genuine- looking at my Honda USA guide there were quite a few versions crossing over around this time.....

Any chance of a scanned version some time Paul? I'm not familiar with Yank versions.

Sure- it is a reproduction of the original Honda guide and over 500 pages- so maybe just the relevant bits!
The DK bike was genuine.
The Model Guide shows the 79 model year CB400TII Hawk II starting frame number CB400T-4100001 in either Candy Antares Red or Black- with Superdream type wheels with no black trims. Photo shows the RH engine case was a Superdream item. The Yanks kept very strictly to model years so a 79 would have been manufactured in 78.
This exactly fits the DK bike which has a frame number CB400T-4102414. It was the 78 model year Hawk II that had the Dream type wheels and dream engine case. Frame numbers running four zero.....

both cbx1000 from the states gone went very quickly do not know how much for took less than two days to sell someone hear treated themselves
