I believe if we can leave the politics out of the forum then we will be fine. Scania do not take offence where none is intended we have visitors and members worldwide and have no complaints other than your own about the logo I think we can all add something to the forum and I am guessing you see yourself as a bit of an anti establishment figure judging by your comments and avatar, but this forum may not the best one to express your revolutionary political ideals, I get the feeling you may be just trying to wind people up a bit. So just relax when your here and just flick past the banner quickly. Thank you for the comments about my signature banner.

Sorry if I offended you but you have completely missed by point, I love the British people and I love the UK, I have paid tax in the UK too so I might retire there, it is one of the nicest countries in the world with mostly a lovely population who speak good English.
My point is that putting a national flag (even an artistically beautiful national flag, which in all fairness the Union Jack is quite beautiful) on a non political website will alienate and polarize a lot of people around the world against the website.
It is very difficult for a rational person from the UK to understand this because like I said it is an illogical phobia people have.
Within the UK the union Jack is associated with all positive things, music, sport, people etc, but outside the UK it is the most hated symbols in the world, even more hated than the swastika or the Russian Hammer & Sickle, now that is very illogical but it is true. But the flag is not the people, British people are liked, the flag is not. The reason for this is because outside the UK the Union Jack is wrongly presented in a totally different and negative way to people from a very young age, (except in countries like Canada, Australia, New Zealand etc). My point was just to politely suggest to leave national flags out of forums because flags divide people, better to put a picture of the earth in the banner, we are all earthlings !
Many foreign people who love Honda Superdreams will visit this site once and not visit it again if they see the Union Jack because they have been educated (or miss-educated to see something totally different), they will not even leave a message of complaint, that is sad and will be a loss to us all. That is what I was trying to explain, I was not making a personal criticism.
The best way I can explain it is that in my work place these is a shared computer which 'low lives' like me get to uses and browse the internet on during brake times etc, I used to visit this forum on it during my lunch break and the guys I work with used to look with interest over my shoulder at beautiful pictures of restored Superdreams.
But since the Union Jack appeared on the website I have not dared visit this website in my work place, to be honest I would be afraid of how they people around me would react. A lot of people my age had their grandfathers or great grandfathers executed by the British army in Ireland, the Union Jack in Ireland has become associated with these public hangings which happened through out Ireland in small towns villages etc. ironically their children then went to Britain and were glad of the work they got there on the buildings! All very confusing, I know ! This seems very illogical and full of contradictions but it is true, every where around my workplace people celebrate Manchester United, the Spice girls, Oasis, all of which have sported the Union Jack on their clothes or guitars, (although this is usually filtered out to some degree outside the UK) and that seems to be accepted in that context, but there is still a huge negative phobia about the Union Jack outside of the UK, because it is either rightly or wrongly associated with the British Army's over sees operations and invasions. I am only trying to enlighten people here of what the Union Jack is interrupted as outside of the UK and that if you are selling a product or a forum then it is best to package it in such a way that people feel positive about it the moment they see it, that is if you want them to buy it. But as a lot off people outside the UK have been brainwashed through school, media etc to hate the sight of the Union Jack, so because of this they will not buy the package. It would be like a Volkswagen Forum putting a German Cross on their website, well most people would switch off and the website would not sell. Just to conclude, I am not trying to offend, I am just trying to enlighten, sometimes those on the outside can see a bigger picture.

It took me so long to write the last post that I didn't see the new posts advising me not to follow the subject of my aversion to flags, so I will drop that subject now and get back to bikes.
Hoping I came across as polite as possible in my effort to make my point.

The bottom line is that can you just come on here and talk about the true love of your life.....much like I do - the Honda Super Dream?
Just leave the rest in a deserted car park somewhere.....believe me.....in this past year I have learned from bitter experience that it is the best thing on a forum. Come here and have fun.......90% bike related maybe 10% not. But leave the heavy politics out of it.....like we all do.
We know it's not an ideal world.........a lot of us are not happy......but come here to keep to the core.......THE SUPER DREAM.

Scania I do not see it as a personal criticism and I would happily discuss Irish History with you and perhaps enlighten you a bit about your inaccuracies in the above propaganda statement as I fear you may have been a victim of some brainwashing yourself. But alas not on this forum.

It's no big deal unless you can pipe down on the politics - as I said - there will be a vent for that elsewhere.........we know you are into the bike so it's right you are here.... I think you love controversy......next you'll be spraying graffiti on things.

This won't take half as long, please let this be the end of your political nonsense or I will actively campaign to have your ass kicked out of here. Also, hoping I came across as polite as possible.

When this site was started everyone agreed against deleting posts etc, as we did not want to follow in the footsteps of the previous forum. Scania is entitled to his view, but he has been asked to drop the subject by admin. I personally find his comments needless , unprovoked and offensive. This thread will bury itself over time

I do feel there are times when it is necessary to remove posts for the good of the forum. That is why we have an admin team. Needless arguments put more people of forums than a few deleted posts.
